Killing this blog

I always have a ton of ideas and really never follow through with those ideas.  Well, I have finally decided to do something that I have been thinking about for a long time.  I have created a new blog/site that will showcase a little more lifestyle stuff.  My wife does a family blog and a lot of the time I just re-write what she already has, and lets face it.  She is much better at it than I am.  My new blog will feature guest writers, photographers, artists and other cool stuff as I see fit.  for those that care, check it out  www.agelessfam.com  put it on your list or whatever.  for like the two blogs that I follow, I will still follow you.
I hope to not disappoint!

The change of seasons

Seriously, Fall is my favorite time of year.  I love the cooler temps, and all the colors that come along with it.  That is one of the best things about living in Utah, is that we get to experience four seasons.  Totally dig it.
The past week was a good one.  Just getting around a little better each day, and yesterday I was able to kick the brace and actually put some weight on my leg.  I am still on crutches, but need to ween off of them over the next two weeks.  Crazy new sensations and its gnarly to relearn such basic stuff, but its all good.
A few big notes as of late.  First off the wee one is a climbing machine.  Stairs, couches, chairs, and mini picnic tables and pretty much everything.  I seriously love watching her grow and learn new things daily.  I also love hear her saying "da-da"  Makes me happy.

Second would be something that we all have been waiting on patiently for quite some time now.  The oldest grom started riding her bike without training wheels.  She came home sunday night from riding around the block with her mom and sister and wanted the trainers off.  We took them off, and the wife ran behind her for about twenty feet and then she just took off with it.  like took off, like she had been doing it all along.  Pretty cool

Got spur of the moment circus tickets yesterday, normally Im not down with the circus but offering the fam suite tickets is something I cannot pass up.  Some of the big wigs from work were there, and it was cool to hang with them for a bit as well.  but the show stopper was the grom for me.  I loved watching her sit there in amazement.  She was so entranced by the show, which is all we could ask for.  I love being a dad.  If you're a dad and hate it, punch yourself in the face.

The wife is pretty good too, Ill keep her around.

The knee

A cathedral in Achken Germany.
I guess its about time that I get around to writing about this predicament that Im currently going through.  While I was in Belgium racing the world champs, I was doing my thing through qualifying and had made it into the quarter finals.  During that lap I was sitting in the 2nd position when I collided with another rider off the lip of the step up into turn two.  I being so old and wise, put my foot straight out and jammed up my knee.  I didn't crash and would roll around in the 4th spot, moving onto the semi.  I had last gate choice for the semi, and going against the drs wishes I decided I would put it out there and give it a go.  Out of the gate I didn't see anyone, so I decided to hunker down and go.  I moved all the way over to lane one and couldn't quite get over on the inside rider (he went on to win the worlds).  Moving into 2nd into turn one the 3rd place rider blew me up.  Game over
The two photos are from when I pulled the plug from racing.

I knew something was wrong, but not quite to the extent that it ended up being.  I walked around for the next six days until I could get home and get into the Dr.  It all went pretty quick and I actually got seen so much faster than expected.  By the second day home, I had MRI results, and surgery was scheduled.  I had to wait three weeks, and had to do pre jab prior to surgery.  I needed to be able to straighten my leg and bend it so far before they would operate.

I prepared myself for the six months of being off, and didn't really know what to expect as far as pain.  Turns out, Im a gigantic sissy.  The wife could have told you that, but here it is in all its glory, my candid post laying it out there that I have no threshold for pain.  The problem with pain and me though is I despise pills.  Like they make me go crazy, up at midnight ripping off my brace saying I'm fine and having a melt down despise them.  Three days of pills,  and I was over it.  Aleve, and ice have been my best friend, and TV.  Lots of stupid TV.

All in all though things are good.  This is the longest stretch that I have been home in four years.  The wifester and the girls are taking great care of me, and I might be enjoying that more than I should.  The wife deserves a vacation after      this thats for sure.  It has been great to have so many people reach out and touch base, come check on me, send texts, and bring over treats.

Therapy has been great and things are headed in the right direction.  Im slightly ahead of schedule in therapy.  There are good days, and there are bad days, but with the team I have around me theres no chance of failure.

Ill update more I promise.  If not to keep my limited follower happy, but to keep texts at midnight to 0.

I aint done yet.

Smile

If this doesn't make you smile, you should cut your arm off just to make sure you can still feel something.

Lake Powell

For those of you that done know, we haven't been back to Lake Powell since the day we left seven years ago.  It was time for me to get over my demons and I wanted to do a surprise trip for my little, so we did just that.  I got off work on Friday, came home, grabbed the grom and made the little road trip down south.  I made this video for HMAE because she wanted to make a video with daddy.
